Secretary of CATUS Council

 

 

Slavica Savić was born in 1948 in Prijepolje. She graduated at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering. Her first job was in Textile Industry ’Leteks’ in Leskovac. As an activist she was elected member of the Council of Trade Unions of Yugoslavia.

From 1986 to 1990 she was the General Secretary of the Trade Union Confederation Council of South Morava region.

In the national elections of 1989 she was elected Delegate of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Serbia in the Social and Political Council of Serbia’s National Assembly. Several times she was elected President of the National Trade Union Committee for Textile, Leather and Footwear Industry and once President of the Confederal Board. She signed the first Branch Collective Agreement in Serbia, while during her mandate (in 2002) the Autonomous Trade Union of Textile, Leather and Footwear Industry got affiliated to the International Federation of Textile and Clothing.

During her successful trade union career she contributed to a productive cooperation with trade unions in the region and Europe.

She is a member of the CATUS Council and Presidency, but also of the National Board of Pension and Disability Insurance Fund. In October 2007 she was elected the CATUS General Secretary. To the same position she was reelected at the constitutional session in June 2010.
